Watch The First British Astronaut Travel To The Space Station!

Great Britain reaching new heights…or Peakes

On Friday, a trio of Astronauts came down from the International Space Station, making way for another lucky three Space explorers, who are setting off today. Among those chosen is Tim Peake; the first British Astronaut to travel to the ISS and the first in twenty years to even go to space!

Peak is joined by NASA astronaut Tim Kopra and Yuri Malenchenko, who you may remember from 2003, when he became the first person to marry in space!

Watch the incredible video of Peake’s launch below, courtesy of the BBC!!

For updates on the launch head to the Livestream page or, for our fellow UK readers, head to BBC News, where you can access real-time updates!

We’ve also got an interesting insight into the challenges of a Space Walk, in which Peake gives us an idea of the very technically challenging side of being an Astronaut for the BBC:

It should take about six hours for the Soyuz TMA-19M spacecraft to reach the orbiting outpost. This incredible event will be available on BBC’s “Stargazing Live” coverage, which launches (sorry) at 7pm on BBC Two.

Congratulations Tim Peake! We wish you the best of luck and are seriously jealous!
